Our mission is to guide students to develop their full potencial in IB Ab Initio Spanish
SPANISH IB CURRICULUM
The language ab initio course is a language acquisition course for students with no prior experience of the target language.
According to the IB, the curriculum is organized around five prescribed themes and 20 prescribed topics with which the students engage though written, audio, visual and audio-visual texts. The five prescribed themes are:
- Identities
- Experiences
- Human ingenuity
- Social organization
- Sharing the planet
OUR LESSONS
Excel Spanish provides support to students throughout these two years, assisting them in establishing the fundamentals of Spanish and reinforcing their language acquisition. Our lessons are also specifically focused on preparing students to achieve a high score in the final exam.
For students taking Spanish for the first time within the IB program, our experienced IB tutors prioritize the comprehension of Spanish language across all four skills: Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Reading.
PRACTICE
For students enrolled in the Spanish IB, Excel Spanish will provide guidance from the start of their Spanish language journey.
With the right guidance, proper preparation, and the effective use of practice tests, students can approach the Spanish IB examination with a sense of readiness and increase their chances of success.
We aim to elevate students proficiency in Spanish and establish a strong foundation, enabling them to seamlessly progress in their IB DP Spanish Language B.
FINAL EXAM
In the Language Ab Initio SL assessment, external evaluation holds significant weight, comprising 75% of the total assessment. It consists of four assessments:
1. Paper 1 Writing (two written tasks) 25%.
2. Paper 2. Listening and Reading sections. 25% + 25%.
3. Oral assessment. This is an internal assessment, 25%.
