SPANISH MYP CURRICULUM

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students aged 11-16. 

The MYP curriculum framework consists of eight subject groups, offering a comprehensive and well-rounded education for early adolescents. Spanish is one of the languages included in the language acquisition group that students can opt for.

OUR LESSONS

Excel Spanish provides continuous support to students throughout their MYP years, assisting them in establishing the fundamentals of Spanish and reinforcing their language acquisition.

For students taking Spanish for the first time within the IB program, our experienced IB tutors prioritize the construction of a robust foundation and comprehension of Spanish language across all four skills: Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Reading.

PRACTICE

For students enrolled in the Spanish IB MYP, ExcelSpanish will provide guidance right from the start of their Spanish language journey. We aim to elevate their proficiency in Spanish and establish a strong foundation, enabling them to seamlessly progress to IB DP Spanish Language B (SL & HL).

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

According to IB, each language acquisition objective corresponds to one of four equally weighted assessment criteria. Each criterion has eight possible achievement levels (1–8), divided into four bands with unique descriptors that teachers use to make judgments about students’ work.
The four Criterions are: Criterion A: Listening, Criterion B: Reading, Criterion C: Speaking and Criterion D: Writing.

Students will have the opportunity to attend lessons led by experienced teachers who will accompany them throughout the Spanish school year. With our knowledgeable MYP instructors, students will gain insight into the strategies necessary to excel in all four assessment criteria.
